iPhone 7 is constantly in the news and all for the good reasons. Gadget lovers have been speculating its design and feature on the basis of a number of Apple patents and expect it to be a next generation smartphone – something we have never seen and experienced before.
Wrap Around Screen
The most striking feature is the screen, a 4.9 inch Full HD Sapphire front display that will also be a wrap around screen. According to PCAdvisor, an Apple’s patent published this year, describes what the iPhone maker calls “sidewalls displays”. This suggests that the display will be extended onto the sides of the device, providing interactive or touch sensitive portions that give access to slide-to-unlock functionality, messaging readout, music player controls, system controls and more.
Top-to-bottom screen
The Week reported that Marek Weidlich, a designer in the Czech Republic, has created a new iPhone 7 concept sketch which shows how the phone may look if Apple removes the home button on its next handset. According to the video and accompanying images the device will feature a top-to-bottom screen, which would be a first for any manufacturer.
Processor, chip, sensors
iPhone7UserGuide lists the most expected concept of the upcoming smartphone:
Operating System: iOS 9
Touch and Sensors: Capacitive home button and Touch ID sensor with 700 dpi pixel density, NFC sensor and Bluetooth 4.2
Processor: Apple A9 chip quad-core 1.8 GHz with 2x faster GPU
Camera: 13 MP rear camera, 2k@30fps, 1080p@120-480fps
Battery: 2260 mAh battery with light indicator around the lightning connector
Apple Patents
International Business Times points out noticeable Apple patents that hint at “game-changing” iPhone 7:
- Protective Mechanism for an Electronic Device, the technology that uses vibration motor to adjust gravity will make sure that a device doesn't fall on the screen
- Touch Surface for Simulating Materials, for recognising hand gestures made by touching a surface
- Mirror Tilt Actuation, to improve picture quality with the use of image sensors and "OIS adjusts the direction of the field of view of the camera to compensate for user motion"
- Elevated Joystick, which will enable an Apple device to transform into an elevated joystick with a touch and then fall back to original state with just a push. It will change mobile phone gaming if it is implemented
Apart from these, MacWorld reports other patents by the Cupertino company that include solar charging, side walls display, waterproof components and many others.
With price likely to be somewhere between $649 and $849, the iPhone 7 is expected to release across the world in the third quarter of the year 2016. Although it is uncertain if Apple will actually incorporate all these features into it, but these rumors will definitely keep Apple loyalists excited for the next Apple smartphone.
