Russia launched a series of airstrikes and drone attacks on Kyiv and the surrounding region, targeting military and logistics facilities, according to the Russian Defence Ministry.

In a statement published on Telegram, the ministry said Russian forces struck several sites in and around the Ukrainian capital. The reported targets included facilities involved in producing drone components, a military depot and a logistics hub.

The latest strikes come as Russia and Ukraine continue to rely heavily on drones and long-range weapons in the ongoing war. Drone production facilities, storage sites and logistics infrastructure have become important targets as both sides seek to disrupt military supply chains and reduce their opponent’s ability to carry out future operations.

Russia has repeatedly launched missile and drone attacks against Kyiv and other Ukrainian regions since the conflict began. Ukraine, meanwhile, has also expanded its use of drones, including long-range systems capable of reaching military and industrial targets inside Russia.

The Russian Defence Ministry did not immediately provide detailed information about the scale of damage caused by the latest attacks or disclose the specific locations of the facilities it said were hit. The claims also could not be independently verified based on the ministry’s statement alone.

Kyiv remains a significant target because of its political importance and its role in Ukraine’s defence and military infrastructure. Air attacks on the capital and surrounding areas have periodically prompted air raid alerts as Ukrainian forces attempt to intercept incoming missiles and drones.

The reported Russian strikes highlight the continuing importance of unmanned aerial systems, military storage facilities and logistics networks in the Russia-Ukraine war. Both countries have increasingly focused on disrupting weapons production and supply operations as fighting continues.

Further information from Ukrainian authorities could provide additional details about casualties, infrastructure damage and the effectiveness of Ukraine’s air defences during the latest attack.
