JOHNS CREEK, Ga., Oct. 19, 2017 -- Saia, Inc. (NASDAQ:SAIA) will celebrate the completion of its new state-of-the-art Saia LTL Freight cross-dock facility in St. Peters, Mo. on Oct. 23 with a ribbon cutting ceremony. St. Peters is situated approximately 35 miles west of St. Louis.
"We are very excited about this new facility as it is four times the size of our previous St. Louis-area terminal," said Ray Ramu, the company's executive vice president and chief customer officer. "It’s a substantial investment in the community and its completion will allow us to meet the growing demands of shippers in St. Peters and the surrounding St. Louis market for years to come. The terminal really is a model facility for Saia as we continue to improve and expand our network nationwide."
In addition to company employees and several members of Saia's executive team, national and local customers; area dignitaries and community leaders, including St. Peters Mayor Len Pagano; construction and project personnel, are scheduled to attend the event.
The standalone terminal is situated on 26 acres and features an expansive dock with 100 doors, administrative space, a maintenance shop with wash bay, and a fueling station. It is located on Premier Parkway South and provides over 50,000 square feet of combined work space. Investments to the site also include many environmentally-friendly features with regard to lighting and heating in addition to a state-of-the-art security system and spacious, concrete yard.
Aside from the completion of the St. Peters terminal, the company recently opened a new facility in Laurel, Md., which will serve Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Delaware. Saia also began offering direct service to the greater New York City and Long Island markets.
