Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe were made famous by the “Outlander” historical fantasy drama and it has been five years since the first season premiered. The show gained lots of followers from around the world and with its huge following, the World Outlander Day was even formed.
The cast led by Heughan and Balfe celebrated the day on June 1 by interacting with their fans through social media. The cast spent their filming break answering questions from fans and the clip was also shared via the official “Outlander” Twitter page.
Happy World #Outlander Day! If you could celebrate with a party in any of the Outlander sets, which would it be? pic.twitter.com/8EmLcLf1p3

Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe also marked the special day by making a toast for the success of their time-traveling drama. Fans and fellow actors commented by congratulating everyone for what the show and production team have achieved in the five years that “Outlander” is airing on television.
Author Diana Gabaldon who wrote the book series where “Outlander” was based on also thanked everyone for the undying support for the show. Heughan also pointed out that it is actually the author’s day since it all began with her novels. "It’s your day Gabs!" he wrote on
Twitter to which she replied: "And what would Outlander be without you guys? ???? (That's a rhetorical question, btw...don't feel obliged to answer it.) THANK YOU ALL!!!"
Meanwhile, it was revealed that “Outlander” season 5 will feature a new cast member and he will be acting with Sam Heughan the most. Still, on Twitter, the producers wrote, “We have a very im-purr-tent casting announcement... who could it be?! #Outlander.”
The newest cast member was Adso, a furry friend and he was introduced by Sam by posting their first photo. He will be the Fraser family’s pet, a gray cat. Caitriona’s leading man tweeted along with his picture with Adso, "Clan, meet our wee ADSO! Not to be dramatic but we'd already do ANYTHING for him."
As per Entertainment Weekly, Adso is really on Diana Gabaldon’s “The Fiery Cross where “Outlander” season 5 is based. In the book, Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) met him on the road and brought him home to his wife Claire (Caitriona Balfe) to be her pet. He was named after the cat that Jamie’s mother owned and lives in a cupboard in the latter’s office.
Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe’s “Outlander” season will air soon. They are currently filming in Scotland so there is no exact premiere date yet.
