Samsung has a few more updates planned for the Galaxy Tab S7 series, and they will be available before the end of February. Soon, users of the flagship tablets can use S Pen to input text and enjoy media content with the advanced audio tech made possible by the wireless Galaxy Buds Pro.
Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 series is getting another update
Samsung announced this week that the Galaxy Tab S7 and Galaxy Tab S7+ tablet are getting S Pen support through an upcoming update. This means tablet owners can use the company’s signature stylus pen to write texts on apps like Samsung Notes and text boxes like the web browsers’ address bars.
The tablets will transform the S Pen-written characters into digital texts, including punctuation marks and spaces by writing “v” between words. The update will be available in 80 languages and will be released with a new pen type providing more options when using the Samsung Notes app. Once the update is live sometime in late February, users can activate this feature through Settings > Advanced Feature > S Pen > S Pen to text.
Surround sound technology has been one of the selling points for recently launched premium wireless earbuds, and Samsung’s Galaxy Buds Pro has it too in a feature called 360 Audio. However, smartphones and tablets need the right operating system to make them work.
The upcoming software update for the Galaxy Tab S7 series will do just that for the flagship tablets. This feature uses motion-tracking sensors to determine the user’s head movements and allowing the sound direction and the Galaxy Buds Pro’s volumes to adjust accordingly.
What does this mean for the rumored Samsung Galaxy Tab S8?
It is interesting to see Samsung still releasing these software updates for the Galaxy Tab S7 when reports about the Galaxy Tab S8 have already started appearing in the rumor mill. Earlier this month, a device with the name “Galaxy Tab S8 Enterprise Edition” was spotted on the Samsung Ireland website. It was listed as having an up to 1TB external memory capacity and support for microSD card and nano SIM.
Considering the source of the leak, it is not too far-fetched to expect a new flagship tablet from Samsung in the summer. However, it remains to be seen if the Galaxy Tab S8 series would be immediately equipped with the S Pen and 360 Audio support now that Samsung is rolling it out for the S7 lineup.
