Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics are also mourning the passing of Queen Elizabeth II. The South Korean leading conglomerates expressed their condolences by posting a message on their respective websites in the United Kingdom.
As per The Korea Times, Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics started a period of mourning for the Queen who left the world on Sept. 8. Since the products of these companies were noted to be very popular in the region, and some of them were even supplied to the royal family, they will also reduce their activities including sale in the UK until Her Majesty's funeral on Sept. 19.
With this move, Samsung and LG also join other major firms in halting their business operations to pay respect to Queen Elizabeth, especially on the day of her funeral. McDonald's also announced all of its stores in the country would be shut until 5 p.m. on that day.
Samsung's position as a supplier of consumer electronics products has been renewed by the royal family this year. The renewal of its Royal Warrant will continue to recognize the brand as its official supplier.
It was noted that the British royal family typically assesses companies that have been supplying their products and services. They especially look into firms that were granted Royal Warrants for at least five years, then they grant three types of certifications, and these are the Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh, and the Prince of Wales.
Samsung was said to have been awarded the highest certification of the Queen Royal Warrant this year. This is said to be the first time that the royal family has granted this type of certification in the home appliance suppliers category.
At any rate, as many businesses are closing, King Charles III approved the bank holiday across the UK for his mother's state funeral next Monday. In any case, Samsung's UK web page shows a pop-up message that reads: "We stand united in grief with the people of the UK in mourning the loss of Her Majesty The Queen and we offer our deepest condolences to the Royal Family and we commemorate the Queen's immense contribution to the world through a lifetime devoted to selfless public service."
A photo of Queen Elizabeth in black and white was also put on display beside the note. LG Electronics also posted a very similar post in black and white as well, and the statement simply reads: "We send our condolences to the Royal Family and the people of the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth on hearing of the passing of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II."
