According to the support page of T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy Note Edge is set to receive the Android 6.0 Marshmallow's official over-the-air (OTA) update. The device is currently listed in ‘Manufacturer development’ tab, meaning that T-Moble and the device manufacturer have agreed to support a new software update. The list also includes Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S5, Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy Edge 6 Edge+ and Galaxy Tab S2 from the Samsung family.
According to a latest leak on PhoneArena, high-end Samsung handsets including Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6 Edge+, Galaxy S6 (& S6 Edge), Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy Alpha, Galaxy S5, Galaxy A8 and A7 will be receiving Android 6.0. The second batch for the Marshmallow update will include Galaxy A5, A3 and Galaxy E-series.
The leak, if true, suggests that older handsets from the Korean manufacturer like Galaxy S4 and Note 3 would not be receiving the latest Android upgrade. Galaxy S6 Duos and Note 4 Duos were also not included in the list.
It remains unclear at the moment if Samsung will officially announce the list of devices that are to be upgraded to Android 6.0.
A latest report by SamMobile states, “We have learned that the Korean manufacturer is currently preparing a major update for the Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 edge, Galaxy S6 edge+ and the Galaxy Note 5...This new update might be Android 6.0 considering that is the only big thing on the horizon in the Android world, but it could also be focused at bringing more stability to Android 5.1.1.”
