Samsung Electronics Co. will deliver Galaxy devices via a drone service to its buyers in Ireland under a partnership with Irish drone startup Manna.
The service will initially be offered in Oranmore, with plans to expand the drone service nationwide.
Manna will use its custom-developed aerospace-grade drones to deliver the Samsung devices.
The drones can fly at an altitude of 50-80 meters with a speed of over 60 kph, allowing delivery to customers in Oranmore within three minutes.
According to Samsung, the new service will facilitate an end-to-end contactless experience for Samsung customers from initial online orders through their Irish eStore, right through to fulfillment.
Manna has been delivering groceries, pharmacy items, and books for Tesco and other local businesses.
Eamonn Grant, head of online for Samsung Ireland, said they are embracing what they believe would be the future of retail.
