Samuel Adams is launching new beer flavors and may offer an out-of-this-world experience. The flagship brand of the Boston Beer Company just announced its "Space Craft" beer range, and these will be hitting the grocery shelves in the United States on Nov. 16.
Prior to the official release of the Space Craft beers, Samuel Adams opened the site for pre-orders. The latest brew was described as a West-Coast quality India Pale Ales (IPA).
The new beer is said to offer a firm bitterness with a hint of grapefruit, guava, and passionfruit. Moreover, the Samuel Adams' Space Craft beer was said to have been brewed from 66 pounds of hops that traveled more than 300 miles above Earth in October along with the all-civilian crew of SpaceX's Inspiration4. Apparently, the space flight was how the beer got its name.
According to Fox Business, the hops were auctioned off to Samuel Adams, and the payment is a commitment to donate $100,000 to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. The auction was part of Inspiration4's $200 million fundraising campaign.
After getting the hops, these were then made into beer at the Samuel Adams brewery. It was reported that the Space Craft beverage would be sold in select markets and groceries in the third week of this month. Of course, these will also be served in Sam Adams' own Boston Taproom and Cincinnati Taproom.
Fans in other states and cities can also get the new beer as the company teamed up with Give Them Beer so that the Space Craft beer could be delivered to homes across the nation. Customers can buy this new item in a 4-pack box that costs $22.33.
Meanwhile, Samuel Adams also created the Space Craft beer to pay homage to the historic space flight of SpaceX's Inspiration4 crew. They have been out of space for two days, 23 hours, and three minutes which was a first for an all-civilian space journey.
WPRI.com12 reported that Sam Adams started taking advanced orders online. It was also mentioned that the beer would be coming just in time for the peak of the Leonid meteor shower, and this will make the arrival of the Space Craft beer even more special and memorable.
