Scientific Games named Dan Flynn its permanent chief executive and Kevin Schneider board chairman, completing a transition that began when former CEO Pat McHugh retired in September.
The company announced the appointments Nov. 5, with Flynn’s role taking effect Nov. 2. Schneider had served as interim CEO after McHugh’s retirement, which Scientific Games said would take effect Sept. 8 after more than 20 years with the company. The board began looking for a permanent successor at that time.
Before joining Scientific Games, Flynn was chief transformation officer at CDK Global, a Brookfield portfolio company. Scientific Games said Flynn's business and leadership experience spans more than 30 years.
Flynn led Caterpillar’s global rental and used equipment business from 2019 to 2022, where he was responsible for more than $4 billion in annual sales to its dealer network, the company said. He spent more than two decades at Hertz, ending as senior vice president of North American operations. In that role, he oversaw a business with $6.6 billion in revenue and 23,000 employees, according to Scientific Games.
Schneider joined the board in 2022 and became vice chairman in March 2026. His appointment as chairman follows his interim leadership during the CEO search.
Scientific Games provides games, technology, analytics and services for government-sponsored lottery and sports betting programs. The company says its work aims to help lotteries meet their objectives and increase funding for good causes; it did not identify specific costs tied to the leadership change.
Flynn is expected to attend the World Lottery Summit in Sydney, where Scientific Games said he will meet lottery customers and other industry representatives. The company’s announcement and event listings give conflicting dates for the summit, so no date range is included.
