SANTA CLARA, Calif., Sept. 14, 2016 -- Filling an unmet need for the semiconductor intellectual property (IP) community to have a dedicated event to exchange ideas, network, and provide IP buyers the opportunity to meet and obtain in-depth information from a diverse group of suppliers, members of the community have joined together to launch REUSE 2016. This new tradeshow and conference will be held annually, with its debut to be held December 1, 2016 at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, CA.
“In Q3 of 2015, the Electronic System Design Alliance’s MSS report showed that semiconductor IP sales outpaced EDA sales for the first time,” said Bob Smith, executive director of the ESD Alliance. “Yet, in spite of this rapid growth there has been no industry event that focuses solely on bringing IP vendors and buyers together to network and explore the breadth of the industry’s product offerings.”
“Over the last several years, the IP community has come together to host the highly anticipated ‘Stars of IP’ parties at the Design Automation Conference,” said Warren Savage, General Manager of IP at Silvaco, Inc. “These helped establish a model of fair and balanced cooperation we are now utilizing for REUSE 2016 - an event conceived and operated by the IP community, for the community.”
The founding members of REUSE 2016 are:
- CAST, Inc.
- Certus Semiconductor, Inc.
- Silicon Creations, Inc.
- Silvaco, Inc.
- SoC Solutions, Inc.
- True Circuits, Inc.
Jim Feldham, President and CEO, of Semico Research will provide the event’s inaugural keynote address on trends driving IP reuse.
Here’s what people are already saying about REUSE 2016:
“As an IP pioneer starting over twenty years ago, we’re honored to be a co-founder of REUSE 2016, helping prepare today’s designers for a new era when choosing and using the right IP is critical to creating fantastic new products in the face of power, processing, and economic challenges never seen before,” said Nikos Zervas, chief operating officer for CAST, Inc.
“Forums such as those provided by REUSE 2016, enable our technology specialists to showcase our experience and expertise to a knowledgeable designers who understand the challenges of advanced IO design,” said Stephen Fairbanks, Co-Director of Certus Semiconductor.
“We are quite pleased with the other thought leaders in the market to foster IP reuse. As a small IP and services provider, this is an excellent forum to show how our company and the IP community can create value for the industry and play an important role in building the next generation of SOCs,” said Jim Bruister, president of SoC Solutions.
“Silicon Creations is proud to be a founding exhibitor in the first REUSE conference. Removing the barriers in finding and using IP is good for our industry and we support it,” said Andrew Cole, Vice President, Silicon Creations.
"We are pleased to be one of the founding members of this first-ever trade event devoted to semiconductor IP," said Stephen Maneatis, CEO of True Circuits, Inc. (TCI). "We have seen the IP industry become one of the most crucial parts of the ecosystem since TCI started in 1998 and we are proud of our continued role in this significant progress."
