Senate CLARITY Act Faces Wednesday Deadline for Friday Crypto Vote Before Recess

If Senate leaders want a Friday vote before the August recess, the CLARITY Act must get through a crucial procedural barrier this week. If a cloture filing is submitted by Wednesday, August 5, it would start a Friday, August 7 procedural vote on terminating debate and moving the motion to proceed forward. This stage just determines whether legislators may continue arguments, not actual approval of the measure.

The leading U.S. crypto market-structure law, the legislation has significant consequences for legal clarity. A good Friday vote will give exchanges, token creators, and XRP, among other assets that sometimes move on bill-related events a clear signal. Missing the Wednesday filing window would probably move the entire process beyond the recess and undermine legislative momentum.

Whether Senate leaders submit cloture by Wednesday is the main thing to watch. Should they, Friday becomes a live procedural vote; otherwise, the timeline of the bill most likely moves into September.
