A now-deleted Snapchat has ignited news that tennis superstar Serena Williams is with child.
The infamous Snap, of which Williams shared on her official account on Wednesday, showed her in a sexy, yellow one-piece swimsuit, her belly visibly bigger than the last time she was seen in public. The most telling sign that the tennis player is indeed pregnant is her caption, which simply read “20 weeks,” noted Buzzfeed.
If the snap was an announcement of firsts, Williams is expecting her first child with Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, whom she got engaged to late last year. The duo managed to keep their romance out of the spotlight, so the recent development is a huge deal for the athlete’s fans.
However, what appears to be bigger than the rumored baby news is that Williams was most likely pregnant as far back as her first match at this year’s Australia Open, which was in January. The 35 year-old snagged her 23rd title, and subsequently broke Steffi Graff’s Grand Slam record by pulling an upset over her sister, Venus, in the final. Bleacher Report said since the win, Williams was noticeably absent from World Tennis Association events, which seems to back up the rumors that she is indeed pregnant. However, it is to note too that Williams withdrew from the NP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, California over claims of a knee injury.
Fans, nonetheless, congratulated Williams on her baby news, and lauded her capabilities as the “Greatest Player of All Time.” One fan wrote, “That means Serena Williams was pregnant when she won the Australian Open. A pregnant woman dominated them.”
