Ian Gallagher played by Cameron Monaghan is clearly one of the most popular characters in “Shameless” and in “Shameless” Season 9 Episode 5, he might be saying farewell. Nothing has been officially confirmed, but considering the hints being given out so far, this is the only logical conclusion. It would seem that things are simply getting too political for him.
In the trailer for “Shameless” Season 9 Episode 5, it’s clear that events are becoming a little too overwhelming for Ian. With the prospect of a jail sentence, the Gay Jesus movement putting pressure on him, and Fiona (Emmy Rossum) trying to protect him, he might have just had enough. This is why the clip also shows him potentially leaving.
As Hidden Remote points out, it seems like anything can happen with this show following episode 100. Considering what Ian is facing, his departure is not exactly the most surprising development for the show. In fact, considering everything that has been happening so far, it’s a miracle that he hasn’t taken off yet before “Shameless” Season 9 Episode 5.
Then again, it’s likely that Ian will be caught before he actually is able to escape in “Shameless” Season 9 Episode 5. Maybe he really should just go with the insanity plea.
Ian is not the only character struggling in “Shameless” Season 9 Episode 5 either. Frank (William H. Macy) is also contending with his own issues thanks to his liver failing and a crazy woman slapping him repeatedly. What’s that about?
“Shameless” Season 9 Episode 5 is scheduled to air on Oct. 7 on Showtime. Many are hoping that the Gay Jesus storyline will be wrapping up soon and this might be the case with the upcoming episode. Fans can only hope since this might be one of the most polarizing things the show has presented, so far.
