Sika AG has bought Dubai waterproofing producer Duproof, adding a United Arab Emirates manufacturing base that the company says will broaden product supply and sales across the Middle East.
Duproof makes bitumen membranes used in major UAE construction projects. Sika plans to include those products in its offerings for large projects and says locally made membranes could help it gain share across construction segments. The company’s announcement said waterproofing is used in infrastructure, commercial and residential construction.
The companies’ customer networks provide another route for growth, according to Sika. Duproof products will be sold through Sika’s UAE distributors, while Sika gains access to Duproof’s relationships with contractors and product users. Sika says the arrangement creates opportunities to offer more products to customers working on major projects.
The purchase adds a Dubai facility to Sika’s Middle East production footprint, which also has sites in Saudi Arabia and Egypt. Sika expects the added UAE capacity, together with its regional supply network, to improve its ability to serve customers across the region. The company described Duproof’s site as efficient and strategically located, and said it expects production and distribution benefits from adding it to the network.
Christoph Ganz, Sika Regional Manager EMEA, said Duproof’s products and customer relationships complement Sika’s existing business. He said Sika plans to use its sales organization to build on those connections and expand cross-selling on large projects.
Sika reported CHF 11.20 billion in sales in 2025 and said it operates in 103 countries, with production at more than 400 factories. The Duproof purchase follows the company’s Oct. 21 agreement to acquire Resonac Corporation’s adhesives business, which serves Asian markets. EconoTimes previously reported on Sika’s agreement to acquire Resonac’s adhesives business.
