Song Hye Kyo and Park Bo Gum’s new romantic drama recently released stills, which highlighted the life of one of its characters. Cha Soo Hyun – who is played by Song – is a wealthy woman who knows little about personal freedom, Soompi reported.
A descendant from a particularly influential family, Hyun is the daughter of a prominent politician and ex-wife to the heir of a large corporation. As such, Hyun has always lived her life in a small confined space, bound by the set of rules that her father imposed on her. According to the cast and crew, Song Hye Kyo did a remarkable job of fleshing out the character’s rather melancholy aura, adopting a forlorn expression that silently screams of loneliness.
Meanwhile, Park Bo Gum will play a character who is the complete opposite of Hyun. Named Kim Jin Hyuk, this person will be portrayed as someone who is contented with his lot in life. Hyuk is that sort of person who is able to find happiness in the little things as he always had little to begin with. The cast and crew noted Park Bo Gum and Song Hye Kyo’s performances, remarking how elegantly they brought their characters to life, with their chemistry tying their performance together.
Park Bo Gum and Song Hye Kyo’s real-life friendship played an integral role in bringing this chemistry on screen, performing at a level that is only native to those people who are comfortable with each other. Director Park Shin Woo was among those who were impressed by the pair’s acting and said that he, too, needs to step up his game in order to truly connect with their audiences.
"It makes me think that I really need to do a good job. I will work hard so that, once [Encounter] is over, it'll be a drama that we can be even more proud of,” Park said. Initially, the title of the drama was supposed to be “Boyfriend” but was eventually changed to “Encounter.” The romantic drama is slated to premiere in November and will highlight the acting chops of Song Hye Kyo and Park Bo Gum, a performance that will surely deliver on all fronts.
