Song Hye Kyo was in the spotlight recently after she drew flak from many netizens, especially the Chinese people. It all started when Song Joong Ki’s former wife recently made a post about the coronavirus outbreak. On her Instagram, she simply reposted a GIF clip that calls for people to support Wuhan and its people because they are humans too.
The “Descendants of the Sun” actress is obviously showing her concern for the current situation in the Chinese city that has been declared as the center of the virus outbreak. However, as she expressed her support through a simple social media post, rather than being praised, she was heavily criticized instead.
Why Hye Kyo was slammed by netizens
Song Hye Kyo was bashed by many people online because many Chinese people say that she could have shown her support or concern in other ways. As per The New Straits Times, because she merely reposted something to ask the public to help Wuhan, the Chinese and other netizens are questioning her sincerity.
The said that if she really wants to help them, she could have donated instead. They reasoned that a mere post couldn’t really do anything to help their situation, but any donation will. Thus, in the end, they explained that rather than encouraging people around the world to fight the coronavirus, they could at least do more than posting something on social media.
The actress’ social media post
Song Hye Kyo updated her Instagram with a reposted clip that shows a short animation of the phrase “Love for Human, Love for Wuhan.” This was how she voiced out her support for the victims, but this action was met with negative remarks and comments.
Perhaps, this is the reason why the comment section on her post was turned off. Song Hye Kyo has remained quiet about the whole thing. In any case, she is the only celebrity that was bashed, although many other artists have also reposted the same GIF.
Meanwhile, Song Hye Kyo is reportedly considering starring in a movie titled “Anna.” If the negotiations go well with both parties, this could be her comeback movie after almost a year of hiatus in the acting field.
