Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo have called it quits, and it was formalized when the actor filed for divorce on June 26. The reason for the split was not revealed at first, but when the actress’ camp finally released a statement, they stated irreconcilable differences as the cause.
It was Joong Ki who initiated the divorce, and in fact, it was reported that he filed his application at the Seoul’s Family Court without discussing the matters first with Hye Kyo. It was alleged that the actress only came to know about it when she returned home from work abroad.
Joong Ki’s brother hinted about the breakup?
While Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo did not talk about their divorce again after issuing their official statements, the media have focused on their attention to the actor’s father as it was said that he was greatly affected by the separation. Song Yong Gak was said to have stopped going out of the house and refused to take calls as well after learning about his son’s and daughter-in-law’s split.
On the other hand, Joong Ki’s brother Song Seung Ki seemed to have shown his reaction via social media. Observers found his posts on Insta-story, and they said that he appears to be dropping hints about the “Descendant of the Sun” stars’ divorce.
He once posted an idiom written in Chinese and the netizens stated it means “to cover up” and it was speculated that perhaps it means that Hye Kyo is hiding something. This belief was heightened when he unfollowed and deleted his posts related to his former sister-in-law, and the mere fact that it was Song Joong Ki who filed for divorce already speaks volumes. Could the actress really be covering up the truth?
Reason for the divorce
Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo were said to have split up due to differences in personalities, but there could be more from what they were saying. One source revealed on a broadcast that the actress never attended any of Joong Ki’s family events like weddings, family gatherings, and funerals.
She is a “no show” in the family’s important occasions, and this placed Joong Ki in an awkward position. As everyone knows, the actor always values family, and he always put them on top of his priorities, so this could have played a big part in the divorce.
