Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo have split up, and their divorce was finalized in July. The two are one of the biggest names in the Korean entertainment industry, and their divorce also shocked the fans worldwide.
But despite their positions and being A-listers, the two managed to make their separation as quiet as possible. The interest in their divorce was so big that it was amazing that there was not much fanfare about it.
Why the Song-Song couple’s divorce was "noiseless"
From the beginning, when Song Joong Ki filed for divorce from Song Hye Kyo, he stressed that they want the divorce to be quick and done in a way that no party will be hurt. In his statement, the actor
“Rather than denouncing one another and arguing over who is to blame, I hope that the divorce process can be wrapped up amicably,” Soompi quoted the actor as saying in a statement. “I ask for your understanding in regards to the fact that it is difficult to discuss the details of my personal life, and I will recover from my current wounds and do my utmost as an actor to repay you through great productions in the future.”
Hye Kyo also released a statement through her agency, UAA, and she disclosed that the reason for their split was differences in their personalities. They added that they are requesting everyone to refrain from posting speculative comments and asked everyone for understanding as they cannot say more details since it is Hye Kyo and Joong Ki’s private lives.
After their statements were published, Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo never spoke about their divorce again. The actor lay low for a while, and even if the actress continued to promote actively despite her divorce, she never said anything about the split. Until the day that their divorce was finalized, the two remained silent, and people eventually accepted their separation, and they stopped talking about it as well.
Ahn Jae Hyun and Goo Hye Sun’s divorce
Jae Hyun and Hye Sun called it quits a month after the court approved Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo’s divorce, but they created a big mess that both parties are getting hurt by the divorce. Their mistake was outlining their marital issues on social media, and the ex-couple exchanged some heated arguments as they tried to defend themselves. Contents of their private text conversations were also leaked to the public; thus, it is becoming very messy for the couple as times go by.
Meanwhile, Song Joong Ki is returning for the continuation of “Arthdal Chronicles.” The part 3 of the drama is set to air on Sept. 7 at 9 p.m. on tvN, and it will be the series’ finale.
