Sony has launched the PlayStation Messages app for iOS and Android devices, making it easier for users to connect with friends on the PlayStation Network. The app provides a “dedicated” interface to quickly send messages to people on a user’s friend list, right from the mobile handset.
“We know that Messages is the most used feature of the PlayStation App, so we created the standalone PlayStation Messages app with a more streamlined design in order to get you into your Messages and communicating with your friends faster than ever before”, the online post reads.
The app will display full friends list (sorted by online status or alphabetically) and Favorite Groups that a user adds to message several people at once. Users can send text or voice messages, along with stickers and attachments up to 100 players.
“Making PS4 a socially connected experience has always been one of our core goals, and we think this app will help enhance that connectivity even further”, it added.
Sony has also released a new version of PlayStation app for iOS, available on the app store for free. Players will now be able to follow verified accounts and keep a track of their activites.
The PlayStation messages app for Android has 12MB size and requires Android version 4.0.3 or later, while the iOS-compatible app has 16.9MB size, requires iOS 7 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch.
