The Sony Xperia XA2 Plus was finally unveiled on Wednesday. But, at first glance, the newest smartphone from Sony, which has a 6-inch screen, is actually built in the same size as the previously launched Sony Xperia XA2 Ultra. This brings fans to the question: Why should they get the Sony Xperia XA2 Plus instead?
At first glance, the advantages that Sony Xperia XA2 Plus has over its Ultra-named counterpart is quite hard to identify. But smartphone fans must not be confused by it because the device announced this week is actually packed with more advanced features.
For one, having an 18:9 display aspect ratio is billed as the significant improvement applied on the Sony Xperia XA2 Plus. Since this is still a lineup of mid-range smartphones, that puts the Sony Xperia XA2 Plus on the list of must-have devices that will not hurt a person’s pocket much.
Note, however, that the previously released Xperia XA2 and Xperia XA2 Ultra are not very far behind even in this case. Both devices have a 16:9 display aspect ratio. And all three have screens with a Full HD+ (2,160 x 1,080) resolution.
Meanwhile, there might be another compelling reason to opt for the Sony Xperia XA2 Plus instead of its smartphone cousins, and it is in its speakers. The company boasts that its latest device is the “first super mid-range smartphone to feature Sony’s High-Resolution Audio technology.”
With a much-improved display panel and speakers, the Sony Xperia XA2 Plus will obviously appeal to smartphone users who love to watch or listen to streamed content through their mobile devices. “Xperia XA2 Plus further improves on that with a reimagined 18:9 display, Sony’s Hi-Res Audio and powerful camera technology, to offer a unique content consumption and creation device for consumers at this section of the market,” Sony Mobile Communications executive deputy president Hideyuki Furumi noted.
Aside from these features, the Sony Xperia XA2 Plus practically shares the same specifications as the Sony Xperia XA2 Ultra. But other notable improvements include the sturdier Corning Gorilla 5 glass, thinner screen bezels, and the 6GB RAM configuration.
Sony is yet to announce the retail release date for the Sony Xperia XA2 Plus. Meanwhile, its price is expected to be close to the base price of the Sony Xperia XA2 Ultra, which is $450.
