Sorare will provide the official non-fungible token (NFT) fantasy game of Major League Soccer (MLS), with players able to collect, trade, and play with tokens representing every single player from all 29 clubs in the league.
The deal makes MLS the latest soccer league and the first sports organization in the US to do partner with Sorare.
Sorare’s growing portfolio of soccer partners includes major leagues Spain’s LaLiga and Germany’s Bundesliga, and clubs Liverpool, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), and Juventus.
The blockchain digital collectible and fantasy game specialist’s backers also include Fifa World Cup winners Gerard Piqué and Antoine Griezmann, as well as former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand.
The deal is Sorare’s first with a major US sports property.
Sorare, which was valued at US$4.3 billion last September after a US$680 million Series B funding round, hopes to capitalize on MLS’s young, tech-savvy followers before expanding into other sports.
