South Korean manufacturing BSI unchanged in August, outlook for September rises to 83

Bank of Korea Business Survey Index on business conditions in the manufacturing sector for August remained unchanged at 78 from the prior month. However, the outlook for the September month rose by 5 points to 83. On a seasonally adjusted basis, the BSI for the month of August rose 3 points from July to 81 in August. Meanwhile, the outlook for the month of September also rose by 3 points to 84.

In the non-manufacturing sector, the BSI on the business conditions for August 2017 dropped 4 points from July to 75 in August. However, the outlook for September month was up by 1 point to 78. On a seasonally adjusted basis, the BSI for August 2017 dropped by 3 points to 77 from the earlier month, while the outlook for the following month also dropped by 4 points to 77.

Meanwhile, the economic sentiment index, which is a composite of the BSI and the CSI rose 1.2 points to 98.1 in August from July.
