The Korea Fair Trade Commission (KFTC) fined five manufacturers of windows a combined 1.28 billion won for misleading consumers through advertisements to believe that their products can sharply reduce energy costs.
LG Hausys and its four rivals did not specify in their ads that such results on energy efficiency could be generated in a strictly controlled environment.
The KFTC also ordered them to take corrective measures.
LG Hausys will be separated from LG Group to be affiliated with the newly-established LX Group in May.
