The trailer for “South Park” season 22 episode 1 is brief and focused on a single scene but definitely tells a lot. For the season opener this week, the animated sitcom will tackle gun violence in an episode titled “Dead Kids.”
“South Park” season 22 episode 1 will be released this week and it will immediately touch on a heavy subject. Given the number of real-life school shootings that happened in the United States within this year alone, the topic of gun violence being included in this installment is almost a given.
A snippet of “South Park” season 22 episode 1 was recently released online showing Stan and his family having dinner. Before the conversation continues, Stan's facial expressions indicate that everything is in its normal state. Then a highly worried Sharon starts encouraging Stan to tell his father what happened in school that day.
Immediately, Stan picks out the topic of his failed math test in the said “South Park” season 22 episode 1 scene. However, her mother presses that he talks about the “other thing,” which turns out to be a school shooting.
Stan then recalls the shooting with an apathetic tone, which is met with a screeching response from his mother. Stan tells Randy that “some kid shot up the school.” But the father’s automatic response is to worry if Stan was the one who held the weapon. Once Stan clears that he is not involved or hurt, the Randy reverts to the topic of the failed test in “South Park” season 22 episode 1.
Meanwhile, the synopsis for “South Park” season 22 episode 1 also offers a look at other events in the premiere. While not mentioning a school shooting, the teaser reads that Randy and Sharon will be included in some of the highlights.
According to the synopsis, “Randy is desperate to help Sharon get her emotions under control” in “South Park” season 22 episode 1. This could be somehow related to the mass shooting that happened in Stan’s school and Sharon's worrying about Stan's welfare.
It also appears that Stan is not the only one failing in the test. The “South Park” season 22 episode 1 teaser reveals that Cartman will be dealing with a flunked math test as well — an incident described as “unexpected.” “South Park” season 22 episode 1 airs on Wednesday, Sept. 26, 10 p.m. ET on Comedy Central.
