‘Star Wars: Episode VIII’ actor Oscar Isaac hinted that his character Poe may get a bigger role to play together with Rey and Finn. Meanwhile, it was also speculated that Luke Skywalker and his sister Leia may be reuniting in the upcoming film.
According to Den of Geek, Isaac will be reprising his role as Poe Dameron, a human Starfighter pilot and one of the leaders of the Resistance. The 37-year old hinted that his character may get a bigger role for Rian Johnson’s upcoming installment in the ‘Star Wars’ franchise.
He teased, “What happens now is the heroes get tested. All three of them [Dameron, Rey and Finn] get tested immensely… BB-8 gets tested too! Everybody gets tested! It’s the dark second chapter, but not really dark.” He added that Poe will be appearing in future films saying, "It's the first time in my life when things have been mapped out for quite some time… I'm basically Star Warring until 2020.”
Isaac shot to international fame after appearing on J.J. Abrams’ preceding film ‘Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens’ as well as starring as the main antagonist in Bryan Singer’s ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’. He earned a Golden Globe Award Nomination for his role in the comedy-drama ‘Inside Llewyn Davis’ and also received several nominations for his work in ‘Ex Machina’ alongside Alicia Vikander and Domhnall Gleeson.
Meanwhile, the upcoming ‘Star Wars’ film is set to follow the events from J.J. Abrams’ preceding film, which ended with Rey (Daisy Ridley) finally meeting Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) on the island where he had been staying in isolation. According to Melty, this island was revealed to be the location of the first ever Jedi Temple.
Several speculations suggested that Luke may also get the chance to reunite with his twin sister Leia (Carrie Fisher) before the latter gets gravely injured and lapses into a coma. There had also been rumors that Laura Dern’s yet unnamed character will be replacing Leia as the new general of the Resistance.
‘Star Wars: Episode VIII’ is a yet untitled science-fiction and action film written and directed by Rian Johnson. It is produced by Ram Bergman and Kathleen Kennedy with J.J. Abrams, Tommy Harper, and Jason D. McGatlin executive producing. It is scheduled to be released on December 15, 2017.
It follows ‘Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens’, which managed to earn $2.1 billion worldwide against a production budget of$245 million.
