‘Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order’ update: EA launches PS5 and Xbox Series X/S optimization patch increasing framerate to 60 FPS
UNIQUENESS SCORE: 86%
Players using new-generation consoles will notice that a new update was recently made available for “Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.” It will not bring any new content but improve the gaming resolution and framerate of the game on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
EA deploys ‘Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order’ update for next-gen console optimization
Based on the patch notes EA released, the update appears to be available for installation for “Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order” players on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Once their game is updated, they should notice an improvement in the gaming resolution, specifically an increased framerate allowing the action-adventure game to run at a maximum of 60 FPS from 45 FPS on all three consoles.
The new update has also improved the ranges of dynamic resolution on the new-generation consoles. The Performance mode on Xbox Series X was increased from 1080p to 1440p, while the “Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order” Normal mode on the same hardware should now render between 1512p to 2160p.
PS5 players will experience an increased gaming resolution as the update allows “Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order” to render at 1200p from the previous 810-1080p. However, the dynamic resolution feature will be disabled on this console once the game is updated.
“Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order” will also get an improved post-processing resolution from this update, although it will be different on each platform: up to 4K on Xbox Series X’s Normal mode and to 1440p on PS5. This feature is not available on Xbox Series S, though.
Is ‘Jedi: Fallen Order’ the last ‘Star Wars’ game EA will release?
The new optimization update was announced shortly before Lucasfilm and Ubisoft announced they have partnered to develop a new “Star Wars” video game. This means games based on the popular comic book and movie franchise will no longer exclusively come from EA’s studios. It then begs the question if “Jedi: Fallen Order” is the last “Star Wars” game EA will publish.
That does not seem to be the case based on a statement EA issued. “We are proud of our long-standing collaboration with Lucasfilm Games, which will continue for years to come,” the game publisher said. “We love Star Wars and look forward to creating more exciting experiences for players to enjoy.”
