‘Star Wars Rebels’ season 3’s episode 7, entitled "Imperial Supercommandos", follows Sabine as she faces the Imperial squad. Her connection to the Mandalorians is also explored in the episode.
The episode follows Sabine and Ezra as they come face to face with a group of Mandalorians, who became the agents of the Empire. The episode also sheds some light on Sabine’s past and her connection with the Mandalorians.
A clip posted by Star Wars on their Youtube channel shows Sabine and Ezra surrounded by fierce Mandalorians, who have aligned themselves in the service of the Empire. The leader Gar Saxon accuses her of being a traitor and a disgrace to her own family, who have now pledged allegiance to the Empire.
When Gar first addresses her, she claims not to know him. He says, “Well, I know you and all about how you’ve joined the Pheonix squadron. I also know that your mother is looking for you.” Ezra looks at his companion with an expression of shock to which Sabine says, “Don’t believe him.”
Gar asks Ezra, “Sabine never told you about her family? Well, she lies as well as you, boy. Her own mother stands with me and the Empire now.” When Sabine accuses him of coercing her mother into giving in, he reveals that it was her own doing since she abandoned the Academy.
The two continue to stand off until Gar says that he would not hurt her and Ezra if she hands over Fenn Rau and swears allegiance to the Empire.
Fenn Rau is the Mandolorian captain of the Protectors of Concord Dawn. According to Den of Geek, was captured by Sabine and Kanan in season 2. The two offered him a chance to join the Rebellion but he wasn’t interested.
Since then, Fenn has become a prisoner of the Rebels with Sabine continuing to coerce him into joining their cause. In the new episode, the Rebels will lose contact with the Protectors based on one of the moons around Concord Dawn prompting Sabine, Ezra, Chopper, and Fenn to investigate by Hera’s orders.
When they find that the Protectors base is destroyed, they also destroy an Imperial probe drone causing Gar Saxon and his squad of Imperial Mandalorians to arrive. Ezra and Chopper are captured while Sabine and Fenn escape. On Sabine’s rescue mission, they are abandoned by Fenn and go head to head with the Mandalorians.
Despite his initial betrayal, Fenn returns to help them escape but only after Sabine defeats Gar in hand-to-hand combat. After realizing Sabine’s headstrong loyalty to the Rebellion, he officially pledges to join their side.
‘Star Wars Rebels’ season 3’s episode 7, entitled "Imperial Supercommandos", was directed by Steward Lee and written by Christopher Yost. It is followed by episode 8, entitled "Iron Squadron", scheduled to air on Disney XD on November 19, 2016.
