Ron O’Hanley, State Street Corp.’s chairman and CEO, said demand for artificial intelligence continues to sustain substantial investment, complicating efforts to judge whether the sector is in a bubble.
At an Oct. 20 forum, Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) Deputy Managing Director (Economic Policy) and Chief Economist Edward S. Robinson said AI investment demand warranted appropriately restrictive policy until broader productivity gains supported easing. He urged policymakers to adjust gradually as evidence develops.
Robinson also said stronger activity tied to AI spending alone did not show that the wider economy could produce more without adding inflation pressure. EconoTimes previously reported on Robinson’s view of AI investment and monetary policy.
