‘Steven Universe’ season 6: Rebecca Sugar confirms there will be more after the movie; Show creator drops hints at what to expect

Steven Universe

“Steven Universe” season 6 is not yet confirmed by Cartoon Network but with the release of “Steven Universe: The Movie,” the TV series is likely the next thing that they will work on. While there are many fans who are starting to think that the show is already ending with the movie, this was debunked by Rebecca Sugar, the series’ creator.

As there is no information about “Steven Universe” season 6 since the fifth installment’s finale titled “Change Your Mind” was shown, many were also convinced that it was the ending. Some of the interviews given by the show’s execs stated that they had not reached the yet, but these were vaguely stated, so they are waiting for real confirmation.

Rebecca Sugar finally commented on season 6

At the premiere of the Steven movie, the media were able to talk with Rebecca Sugar, and they straightly asked her if there will be “Steven Universe” season 6. They asked what’s next after the movie and she said that they are planning more.

She also told TV Line that the “Steven Universe: The Movie” is definitely not the end. “There is more,” she said. “That’s all I can say at the moment, but there will be more, and everything that happened up to this point will continue to matter in true Steven Universe fashion.”

Preview/spoilers

The showrunner also dropped hints as to what to expect when “Steven Universe” season 6 finally arrives. Sugar said that it will introduce a new Steven who is now around 16 years old.

The grown-up boy will also show many “firsts,” including revealing his neck for the first time. He will have a new look and style that fans should watch out for.

“We’d sort of set up how Steven would look as a teenager in previous episodes, particularly ‘Steven’s Birthday’ when he wills himself into a slightly older form,” Sugar explained. “But we were all really excited to give him a neck because it was always sort of a puzzle to figure out how his head connected to his body. I knew that I wanted to give him a cool jacket because Zach Callison (Steven’s voice actor) has all these spectacular jackets in real life.”

"Steven Universe" season 6 has no airdate yet.
