‘Steven Universe’ season 6 officially confirmed; Series to return with brand new opening sequence and title

Steven Universe

“Steven Universe” season 6 is finally confirmed to return on Cartoon Network, and this was announced during the recent New York Comic Con event. The main cast members of the animated show were present, and they shared some details about what is in store for the fans for the next installment.

What’s more, the series’ panel that consists of voice actors Estelle (Garnet), Michaela Dietz (Amethyst), and Deedee Magno-Hall (Pearl) have delighted the fans at the NYCC with their live performances. Rebecca Sugar, the show’s creator, also revealed that “Steven Universe” season 6 will arrive with an all-new title sequence and intro sequence.

The new title, intro, and synopsis

According to TV Line, “Steven Universe” season 6 has been titled “Steven Universe Future,” and its synopsis reads: “After saving the universe, Steven is still at it, tying up every loose end. But as he runs out of other people’s problems to solve, he’ll finally have to face his own.”

Apparently, “Steven Universe” season 6 will stick to how Steven was introduced in “Steven Universe: The Movie,” where he has grown older and become wiser. With the now 16-year-old protagonist, there will be lots of changes in Beach City as well.

The movie version picked up two years after the season 5 finale titled “Change Your Mind,” and Steven has successfully patched up the relationship between the Earth’s Crystal Gems and Diamonds of Homeworld. But then, he realized that his mission is not yet over as a new enemy just landed in Beach City.

Theme song

Still at the NYCC, it was revealed that the theme song that everyone got accustomed to for years had been changed as well for “Steven Universe” season 6. From the usual “We Are the Crystal Gems” theme song, it will be replaced by a remix version of “Happily Ever After” that was first played in “Steven Universe: The Movie” as its official soundtrack. The new opening song is fitting because everyone has grown, and there is a line in the lyrics that say, "Here we are in the future, and it's bright."

Meanwhile, the “Steven Universe” season 6 premiere date has yet to be announced by Cartoon Network.
