“Steven Universe” season 7 has yet to be announced, and fans are already getting anxious because it could have been canceled already. The fears are growing since there is no word from Rebecca Sugar or Cartoon Network up to now.
It should be noted that “Steven Universe” season 7 was released under the new title “Steven Universe Future,” and it presented a total of 10 episodes that were released in batches of two in the span of five weeks. It premiered in November 2019 and concluded in December of the same year.
Is there a renewal announcement?
Apparently, it has been a month since the last season ended, and yet, nothing is heard about its renewal. The producers’ camp is silent with regards to “Steven Universe” season 7, so naturally, fans have started to suspect that it will be discontinued.
But then again, despite the lack of update for “Steven Universe” season 7, fans should not panic because they should not forget that Rebecca Sugar and her team already said before that there will still be more seasons to come.
Last year, during the premiere of the “Steven Universe: Movie,” some reporters were able to interview the series creator, and she was asked about what’s next after the movie. She told them that she and her team have more plans for the favorite Cartoon Network animation.
“There is more,” she told TV Line. “That’s all I can say at the moment, but there will be more, and everything that happened up to this point will continue to matter in true Steven Universe fashion.”
The likelihood of cancellation
It is unlikely that “Steven Universe” season 7 is going to be canceled. For one, the show has a big following, and it is not just the kids who watch it as even adults enjoy it. Also, as mentioned earlier, Sugar already said that they have more plans for Steven, so fans just need to put their faith in her and be patient until the team is ready to announce something.
Finally, while “Steven Universe” season 7 is possible, season 2 for “Steven Universe Future” is uncertain. This is because, from the start, it was already explained that it was only meant to answer the questions left in season 6. The Cinemaholic pointed out, “Steven Universe Future” season 2 will not happen anymore because it was only an epilogue that completed the story of the previous installment.
