“We are thrilled to partner with Subaru of Indiana Automotive, Inc. and welcome them into our Champions program,” said Hillary Schafer, CEO of the Jefferson Awards Foundation. “By recognizing their employees, celebrating outstanding Hoosiers and training young people to impact their communities, they are going to benefit Indiana for years to come through public service.”
Champions are companies who partner with the Jefferson Awards Foundation to engage in meaningful community service and celebrate employees and others in their communities with Jefferson Awards. SIA will recognize its employees who give back to the community. The Jefferson Awards Foundation works with over 200 Champion organizations — organizations that share the foundation’s vision and values — employing 6.4 million people to amplify successes and share stories to drive greater impact.
SIA will also serve as a title sponsor of the Jefferson Awards Foundation’s Salute to Youth Service event on Nov. 2, 2017. In addition, the company will focus on helping the Jefferson Awards Foundation build its Students In Action program in the Lafayette market. Students In Action trains young leaders, helping them discover the issues they care about and providing tools for maximum measurable impact. The program is active in over 300 high schools across the country. In the 2016-2017 school year, 200 students in 30 schools across Indiana completed over 82,000 volunteer hours, generating $1.9 million in community impact.
“The Lafayette community is perfect for the Jefferson Awards, said Tom Easterday, Senior Executive Vice President at SIA. “The outstanding people who live and work here are our community’s greatest strength. SIA is proud to provide this opportunity to celebrate that spirit and further enhance the impact of the service they provide.”
