‘Suits’ Season 9 Release Date, Spoilers: 3 Possible Plots in the 10-Episode Finale

The highly popular legal drama series is going to end this year with a 10-episode “Suits” season 9. Previous interviews with series creator Aaron Korsh revealed that the timing of the series conclusion has not been a surprise to the cast and crew.

However, there are many possibilities with how the characters’ stories will conclude in the show’s final 10 weeks. With that, here are the most likely events to unfold in “Suits” season 9 based on Korsh’s latest statements about the series.

The Zanes Are Not Coming Back

Rachel Zane (Meghan Markle) and Robert Zane (Wendell Pierce) were some of the most fundamental characters throughout the first eight seasons of the show. With everything coming to an end in “Suits” season 9, fans might be hoping to have them back even for cameo appearances.

However, that seems very unlikely at this point. Markle, who is now the Duchess of Sussex after marrying Prince Harry, is expected to give birth in the coming weeks. It is very possible that Markle will go back to her royal duties after giving birth. That means squeezing “Suits” season 9 in her schedule seems impossible.

As for Pierce, Korsh previously confirmed that they had to remove Robert’s character by the end of season 8 mainly because of a scheduling conflict. Pierce has other projects such as being a main cast member in Amazon Prime Video’s “Jack Ryan.” Korsh is hoping to have Pierce back for “Suits” season 9 but he admitted it seems impossible at this point.

Harvey and Donna Adjust to Their New Relationship

The biggest surprise of season 8 came in its very final scene — Harvey (Gabriel Macht) and Donna (Sarah Rafferty) passionately kissed. That also meant they are finally acknowledging their feelings and will be in a real relationship in “Suits” season 9.

“To me, the question is, how are they going to deal with each other now that these feelings have been let out? We’re going to explore quite a bit. Also, how is it going to affect the people they’re working with at the firm,” Korsh told Entertainment Weekly about “Suits” season 9.

Another Finale Wedding?

The development of Harvey and Donna’s relationship will certainly be at the center of “Suits” season 9. However, when asked by Deadline whether this would lead to another wedding, fans might find Korsh’s answer quite underwhelming.

“I would not assume there will be a Harvey-Donna wedding, but it’s possible,” said the showrunner. “Suits” season 9 is slated to premiere in summer.
