Fans of the show are hyped that “Supergirl” Season 4 is only a little over two months away. Production is still ongoing and Melissa Benoist, who plays Kara aka Supergirl, has also shared that she is returning to set. Meanwhile, the people behind the show have also been busy revealing some plot points and developments that fans can look forward to. [Major Spoilers ahead!]
In a new Instagram post, the "Supergirl" actress shared a photo of her in costume with the caption revealing just how much she’s looking forward to shooting “Supergirl” Season 4. Not as much as her fans are, apparently, based on the responses to the post.
“Do I put on a cape now? Yessssiree @supergirlcw I’m heading for ya and I can’t wait to see all my friendsss,” the post’s caption reads.
Melissa Benoist is coming back to film “Supergirl” Season 4 fresh from her stint at Broadway, CarterMatt notes. For those who might be worried that her return might be a little late considering the season’s premiere schedule, everything is apparently fine.
Thanks to some creative scheduling, a lot of “Supergirl” Season 4 was supposedly shot even without its star. Many of the scenes involving the other characters were apparently finished, so now, it’s all about polishing up the production.
As to what fans can expect from this upcoming season, Digital Spy has some major spoilers and plot developments to share. The publication recently asked the show’s cast some questions about “Supergirl” Season 4 and found out that it’s going to be more grounded in reality.
"This season is going to be different," Melissa Benoist said. "Season 3 was a lot of fire and brimstone, and witchcraft... this season is going to be a little more rooted in reality, and mirroring a lot of topical issues in the world today."
Showrunner Robert Rovner talked about the main villain of “Supergirl” Season 4, Agent Liberty, as well. This new character, who will be played by Sam Witwer, will apparently be different from his comic book counterpart. Agent Liberty will basically become the leader of a hate group that wants all aliens gone from Earth. This should make the Oct. 14 return of the show quite interesting.
