For the last five years, Suri Cruise has reportedly not seen her father and it doesn’t seem like that fact is going to change anytime soon. Tom Cruise’s loyalty to the Church of Scientology is one of the speculated reasons why the “Mission Impossible” actor has stayed away from his daughter and Katie Holmes.
Right now, the star is one of the highest-ranking members of the organization. It’s for this very fact that some people are asking why don’t Tom Cruise simply bend the rules in order to be with his daughter. After all, when it’s all said and done, Suri Cruise is still the actor’s child.
But even if he does decide to return to the life of his daughter, Katie Holmes appears to not want his ex-husband anywhere near Suri Cruise. Again, Tom Cruise’s involvement in the Church of Scientology is said to be the reason why Katie Holmes is giving the “Jack Reacher” actor a wide berth.
Tom Cruise has been involved with the organization since his ex-wife, Mimi Rogers, introduced him to it back in 1990. Since then, the “American Made” star became a devoted follower of the teachings of the church. In January 2004, he drew heavy criticism from the public when he said that “psychiatry should be outlawed” and the practice is a form of “pseudoscience.” It’s highly likely that these statements have also played a big part of why Katie Holmes is shielding Suri Cruise from his father.
So far, the 12-year-old seems to be growing up to be a fine member of society as Katie Holmes is doing all she can to provide for her only child. Suri Cruise is currently attending the Sacred Heart Catholic School, an all-girl educational institution where Lady Gaga and Paris Hilton attended.
Apart from academics and extracurricular activities, the school is also trying to open up their students to God in the form of prayers. And Suri Cruise is no exception. Outside of school, the 12-year-old is living a relatively normal life and Katie Holmes is making sure that her daughter develops into a well-rounded individual with good morals and values.
