Much to the delight of fans, Netflix recently confirmed that “Sweet Magnolias” Season 4 is happening. While previous seasons of the entertaining Netflix program left viewers on cliffhangers, Serenity's Maddie (JoAnna Garcia Swisher), Dana Sue (Brooke Elliott), and Helen (Heather Headley) finished on a good note in Season 3.
Avid followers of the show are wondering what the future holds for Maddie, Dana Sue and Helen. As fans await more detail, here is everything we know so far about the forthcoming “Sweet Magnolias” Season 4.
‘Sweet Magnolias’ Season 4 Release Date
Ideally, “Sweet Magnolias” Season 4 would appear in 2024, but that could be disrupted by the ongoing actors' strike, making it impossible to forecast at this time, per Radio Times. Deadline even reported that the delay in the Season 4 announcement was because of "logistics, including the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, but the pick-up was never in doubt as the series continues to draw large, passionate female audiences.”
‘Sweet Magnolias’ Season 4 Cast
Based on the events of the Season 3 finale, viewers can likely expect these cast members to return for “Sweet Magnolias” Season 4: JoAnna Garcia Swisher as Maddie Townsend, Brooke Elliott as Dana Sue Sullivan, Heather Headley as Helen Decatur, Justin Bruening as Cal Maddox, Brandon Quinn as Ronnie Sullivan, Chris Klein as Bill Townsend, Jamie Lynn Spears as Noreen Fitzgibbons, Dion Johnstone as Erik Whitley, Chris Medlin as Isaac Downey, Carson Rowland as Tyler "Ty" Townsend, Logan Allen as Kyle Townsend, Ella Grace Helton as Katie Townsend and Anneliese Judge as Annie Sullivan.
Also, Hunter Burke as Trotter, Frank Oakley III as Harlan, Brittany L Smith as Peggy, Tracey Bonner as Pastor June, Artemis as Lily, Harlan Drum as CeCe, Nikki Estridge as Genevieve and Caroline Lagerfelt as Paula are all projected to appear in the upcoming “Sweet Magnolias” Season 4. However, per Good Housekeeping, it's unclear whether fans will see the Lewis family again now that they've departed Serenity, and it also appears that viewers have seen the last of Ronnie's sister Kathy (Wynn Everett).
‘Sweet Magnolias’ Season 4 Plot
Unlike in the Season 2 finale, Maddie, Dana Sue and Helen are entering “Sweet Magnolias” Season 4 on a much solid foundation, despite the multiple hurdles thrown their way - though more trials and tribulations are surely on the way. Meanwhile, here's an official summary of how Season 3 is set to play out:
"Following the brawl at Sullivan's, Maddie wrestles with the best way to help Cal and works to clear her own emotional path. Helen faces difficult decisions about the men in her life. And Dana Sue searches for a way to use Miss Frances' check to help the community, without upending her family. The identity of the tire slasher sends shockwaves through Serenity, the recall causes unexpected consequences, and there are romantic surprises in every generation. Throughout the season, the ladies tackle these problems – and all the complications they cause – with their trademark warmth, humor, and devotion to each other and those they love. And margaritas."
