The producer and import price index of Switzerland continued to drop in the month of June, consistent with consensus expectations, according to Switzerland’s Federal Statistical Office. On a year-on-year basis, the producer and import price index dropped 1 percent in June, as compared with a drop of 1.2 percent in May.
On a month-on-month basis, the price level of domestic and imported products accelerated 0.1 percent, reaching 99.9 points. It slowed from May’s print of 0.4 percent rise however, the expectations were for an increase of 0.2 percent.
The producer price index fell 0.2 percent, whereas the import price index rose 0.8 percent in June. According to the Federal Statistical Office, the slight rise in the overall index is mainly because of increased prices of petroleum products.
