Türkiye’s defense industry chief called for broader cooperation with Kazakhstan, including joint production, after talks between the countries’ presidents in Ankara, Anadolu Agency reported Wednesday.

Anadolu Agency identified Haluk Gorgun as head of Türkiye’s Secretariat of Defense Industries and said he posted his comments on NSosyal after attending the Ankara talks. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan received Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and his delegation at Ankara’s Presidential Complex, the agency reported.

Gorgun called Türkiye a “reliable, long-term partner.” He pointed to its defense products and policies encouraging production with partner countries, and said closer work could draw on both countries’ capabilities and benefit the Turkic world.

He did not announce any specific project, contract, funding commitment or timetable.

The Ankara meeting followed EconoTimes’ earlier coverage of Tokayev’s visit for cooperation talks. Türkiye’s parliament said Turkish Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmus called for closer coordination between the countries’ legislatures on Oct. 20. The same account described Kazakhstan as Türkiye’s largest trading partner in Central Asia.
