Taiwan’s Hsinchu County government said Nov. 5 that two people died after a Nov. 4 fire at a Panasonic-operated factory, updating the initial report that they were missing.

County authorities had reported five injuries on Nov. 4 and said two people were missing. The following day, the county confirmed both deaths, leaving a reported toll of two dead and five injured.

Panasonic said on Nov. 4 that an explosion occurred at its Taiwan site. It said it was still investigating what happened.

Reuters identified the factory operator as Panasonic Industrial Devices Materials Taiwan. Reuters said the unit serves Taiwanese manufacturers of printed circuit boards, which are used in products including computers and AI servers.

County authorities said the injured were taken to a hospital, according to EconoTimes’ earlier coverage of the fire.
