Taitung, Taiwan, Nov. 07, 2017 -- This year, Taitung County Government received an invitation from the World Surf League to host the Men’s and Women’s Longboard Championships in Taiwan for the first time. The tournament will take place in Jinzun, Donghe Township, and is one of the WSL’s four worldwide championships being held. In addition, Taitung will continue to hold the WSL Men’s Qualifying Series 1500, making it the 56th destination so far.

Besides the longboard championships, the WSL’s Men’s Longboard Asia and Oceania Region tournaments will be part of the happenings in Jinzun from November 23rd until December 3rd.
With the arrival of the fall season comes the northeast monsoon winds, which brings about magnificent waves at Jinzun. Not only are they a hit with local surfers, but they have also caught the eye of international elite surfing enthusiasts. It is expected that local surfing fans and competitors all descend upon Jinzun in Taitung to witness the championships, see their idols up close, and to observe the skills of those elite surfers, while at the same giving visitors from across the world the opportunity to get to know Taiwan, and in particular, Taitung.

This year’s schedule includes the Women’s Pro, Master, Pro Junior, Club Team, and much more! We encourage all local and foreign friends alike to join us in Jinzun, Taitung for this year’s championships. Let’s give all competitors our support and encouragement!
