“The 100” season 6 is now in the works as the fifth installment concluded on Tuesday. The CW renewed the sci-fi drama as early as May so its production is proceeding fast.
The good news is that “The 100” may even go beyond season 6. The CW president Mark Pedowitz said that there are plans for a seventh season but it is still being discussed.
During the Winter Television Critics Association press tour, Pedowitz said, “He (producer Jason Rothenberg) may have a six or seven-year plan to it.”
He added, “I don't know if I'm allowed to even say that, that he has a plan beyond year five, but he does.”
Spoiler, Plot
The finale of season 5 was emotional and it will definitely change how “The 100” season 6 will go forward. In “Damocles Part 2,” the team was put to cryosleep after escaping from the destruction on Earth. However, Monty Green (Christopher Larkin) and Harper McIntyre (Chelsey Reist) opted out of this process.
Eventually, the two main leads died of age before the team reached a new planet to live on. but they left behind a son named Jordan. Later, waking from decades of cryosleep, Clarke Griffin (Eliza Taylor) and Bellamy Blake (Bob Morley) saw the 27-year-old Jordan for the first time.
Express suggests that “The 100” season 6 will also feature time travel. Perhaps, a 125-year time jump will create a huge twist that has yet to be seen when the next installment comes.
Cast
Everyone who was put into cryo-sleep will eventually return for “The 100” season 6 which means everyone in season 5 is expected to return. Henry Ian Cusick as Marcus Kane has also been confirmed to continue with his role.
Following the death of Morty and Harper, a new character was introduced and he is Jordan (Devon Bostick), the savior couple’s son. In a Q&A with TV Line, producer Jason Rothenberg said that his role is very significant in “The 100” season 6.
“He’ll be very important. And his story is very fascinating. He’s a blank slate. He’s never been off that ship. He’s never known anyone but his mother and father,” he said. “It’s going to be a fascinating journey to see if he can keep that innocence and wide-eyed excitement that he’ll enter the season with, surrounded by all these people who are drenched in blood.”
Air Date
“The 100” season 6 has no definite air date yet but it is likely to premiere next spring, between March and May 2019.
