‘The Flash’ season 3’s episode 11, titled “Dead or Alive,” is set to feature Cisco’s impending fight against Gypsy over H.R.’s fate after H.R. is set to stand trial for the crime of inter-dimensional travel.
The synopsis for “Dead or Alive” posted on TV Guide states, “H.R.'s (Tom Cavanagh) past catches up with him when a bounty hunter with vibe powers named Gypsy (Jessica Camacho) arrives in Central City to bring him back to Earth-19 to stand trial for his crime.
It turns out inter-dimensional travel is illegal on their Earth. H.R. surrenders but when Barry (Grant Gustin) and Cisco (Carlos Valdes) find out that H.R.'s only hope would be to challenge Gypsy to a fight to the death, they intercede and Cisco offers to fight Gypsy instead.”
During an interview with TV Line, executive producer Aaron Helbing teased, “Cisco is going to come up against a very strong adversary, someone that he just can’t stop thinking about… [Gypsy] essentially can cross dimensions. She’s a much more advanced Vibe than Cisco, and she is a badass. She doesn’t take any prisoners. She’s very good at her job, and she’s a very formidable adversary for the team.”
Jessica Camacho of ‘Sleepy Hollow’ fame is set to play the superheroine, who first appeared in the original DC comic books that particularly featured the Justice League. In the comic books, Gypsy possesses several powerful abilities, one of which is the power of illusion casting that allows her to blend in with her surroundings rendering her to be essentially invisible.
Gypsy can also use these illusions to frighten her adversaries by showing them what they fear most. She also has limited precognitive abilities.
According to Cinema Blend, Camacho’s Gypsy may very well become an ally despite the impending fight between her and Cisco. Valdes revealed, “There's gonna be a new visitor to our world named Gypsy. DC Comics fans will be familiar with Gypsy. She's gonna be coming into our world and Vibe will definitely get to learn some new skills as part of getting to know her.” It seems that Gypsy will become an integral piece in Cisco’s character development.
‘The Flash’ season 3’s episode 11, titled “Dead or Alive,” is scheduled to air on January 31, 2017 on The CW. The episode was directed by Harry Jierjian with a story by Benjamin Raab and Deric A. Hughes and teleplay by Zack Stentz. It will be followed by episode 12, titled "Untouchable," scheduled for February 7.
