‘The Flash’ season 3’s episode 16, titled "Into the Speed Force," will follow Barry as he attempts to save Wally from imprisonment in the Speed Force. Barry is set to meet characters from the past including Captain Cold and Reverse-Flash.
The synopsis for “Into the Speed Force” posted on TV Guide reads, “Barry (Grant Gustin), desperate to stop Savitar and save his friends, turns to the speed force for answers. Meanwhile, H.R. (Tom Cavanagh) gives Jesse (Joe West) some advice.”
In the upcoming episode, Barry will head into the Speed Force in an attempt to save Wally a.k.a. Kid Flash (Keiynan Lonsdale) from imprisonment. The previous episode, titled "The Wrath of Savitar," followed Wally as he began to lose control his mind while having visions of the evil Savitar (Tobin Bell).
According to the recap on Mic, Wally attempted to stop Savitar once and for all by throwing in the last remaining Philosopher’s Stone into the Speed Force unknowingly releasing Savitar, since this was the final piece the villain needed to be freed from containment. Wally was eventually was sucked into the Speed Force as a replacement.
This led Team Flash to figure out a way to get Wally back. It seems that Barry will take on this dangerous task upon himself, especially since doing so would get him back on Iris’ (Candice Patton) good side considering their relationship had been complicated lately.
As revealed in the promo, Barry will meet several familiar faces from the past while traveling through Speed Force including Eddie Thawne a.k.a. Reverse Flash, Leonard Snart a.k.a. Captain Cold, and Ronnie Raymond. It seem that Black Flash will be making an appearance as well.
‘The Flash’ season 3’s episode 16, titled "Into the Speed Force," is scheduled to air on March 14, 2017 on The CW. It was directed by Gregory Smith and written by Brooke Roberts and Judalina Neira. It will be followed by episode 17, titled "Duet," directed by Dermott Downs and scheduled to be released on March 21.
