The production of “The Good Doctor” season 3 has been given the green light by ABC, but many plot details remain under wraps. Meanwhile, many fans are likely wondering whether they will get to watch actor Daniel Dae Kim reprise his role as Dr. Jackson Han.
On top of being an executive producer of the series, the 50-year-old actor joined the cast. Though it was reportedly just for a recurring role making his return to “The Good Doctor” season 3 quite uncertain to some fans. Kim’s Dr. Han played a major role in the latest arc where Dr. Shaun Murphy (Freddie Highmore) was initially fired from San Jose St. Bonaventure Hospital.
Dr. Han saw issues with having a surgeon with autism despite the fact that Shaun has proven his capacity several times before. However, Shaun has since been reinstated in the hospital’s surgery department. And that could mean that there is no more need for Dr. Han to return in “The Good Doctor” season 3.
Unfortunately, showrunner Daniel Shore also said back in March that he does not see an immediate need for Dr. Han to return soon. But he noted that he is open to having Kim back in front of the cameras again in “The Good Doctor” season 3.
“It’s very possible,” Shore told Entertainment Weekly about Kim’s return in “The Good Doctor” season 3. “I liked the character and had fun with it, and I thought Daniel did a great job. The arc that we were dealing with is now complete, but that doesn’t mean the character can’t come back, and I very much would be open to that.”
Aside from being part of the cast, Kim is practically the father of the American version of the series. He bought rights from the producers of the original, same title drama released in South Korea in 2013 making it possible to make an American counterpart of the TV show. “The Good Doctor” season 3 is slated to premiere in fall.
