Chicago, May 17, 2017 -- The John Marshall Law School Alumni Association will present its 43rd Annual Freedom Award and Distinguished Service Awards on May 18, 2017.

The Freedom Award honors individuals who, through their thinking, accomplishments or profession, reflect the basic tenets of freedom. The award recognizes their work, high ethical standards, efforts to help mankind and initiatives to improve society and our nation.
Lanning Macfarland, Jr., Chairman of the Law Bulletin Publishing Company, will receive this year’s Freedom Award.
The Alumni Association also will honor Dean John E. Corkery, Professor Ann Lousin, Hon. Charles P. Kocoras and alumnus Mauro Glorioso ('97) with Distinguished Service Awards.
Corkery served as John Marshall’s dean for nearly a decade; Lousin has been a professor at John Marshall since 1975; Kocoras is a U.S. District Court Judge for the Northern District of Illinois, served as the Chief Judge from 2002 to 2006, is a member of the law school’s Board of Visitors and also serves as an adjunct professor; and Glorioso is the Chairman of the Illinois Property Tax Appeals Board.
The award ceremony and reception will be held at the Chicago Cultural Center from 5:00-7:30 p.m. The award ceremony will start at 5 p.m.
