ALEXANDRIA, Va., Jan. 14, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The National Association of Free & Charitable Clinics (NAFC) celebrates its 15-year Anniversary and to mark the occasion has released a newly redesigned website, a commemorative Anniversary logo, announces the 2016 Board of Directors and welcomes a new slate of exemplary nonprofit leaders as officers of its Board of Directors.
In 2001, a dedicated and passionate group of Free Clinic leaders recognized that the uninsured and the clinics who serve these patients needed a national voice and organization to tell the important story of those with limited to no access to health care throughout the country.
15 years later, the NAFC continues to work every day to ensure that member clinics, staff and volunteers have the tools needed to provide the medically underserved with access to affordable quality health care. "The NAFC is thankful for all of its supporters, donors, partners, members and volunteers that have helped us grow in our efforts to serve the medically underserved for the past 15 years," said NAFC Chief Executive Officer Nicole Lamoureux. "We are looking forward to the next 15 years where we will continue to be a national voice promoting quality health care for all."
The newly redesigned website – www.nafcclinics.org - provides content rich pages and easy to find information for both the general public as well as for NAFC members. The site includes a "Find a Clinic" feature, integrates with NAFC social media platforms and provides an abundance of information on the issues of the NAFC and how to get involved. The NAFC thanks Dream Creative LLC for their work in designing and developing the site.
Additionally, the NAFC announces that the organization's Board of Directors welcomes the addition of recently elected Angie McLaughlin, Executive Director of the Community Health Care Clinic in Normal, Illinois, as well as a new slate of officers. The Officers of the NAFC Board of Directors now includes:
- Chair: Larry Robins, President and CEO of PediPlace located in Texas
- Vice Chair: Nancy Hudson, Interim Executive Director of the Charlotte Community Health Clinic, Inc. located in North Carolina
- Treasurer: Johanna Henz, Executive Director of the Lake County Free Clinic located in Ohio
- Secretary: Shannon Watson, Executive Director of the Tri City Health Partnership, located in Illinois

"This year is an important one for each of our clinics, our volunteers, our patients and for the NAFC," said NAFC Board Chair Larry Robins. "I am continually made aware of the many challenges and opportunities facing our clinics, our patients and our organization while working towards our collective goal of always striving to do so much to help so many. I look forward to celebrating our successes as well as continuing our important work to help build a healthy America, one person at a time."
About the Organization:
