Another detailed yet seemingly sketchy information leak is claiming that the development of “The Sims 5” is still in the early stages. As a result, its release date reportedly will not take place until 2023.
‘The Sims 5’ release date is reportedly pushed to 2023
Anyone who is a fan of EA and Maxis’ life simulation franchise is likely wondering about the next full game release. The next title is unlikely launching this year, and there is also little to no chance that “The Sims 5” will be announced in the near future. And a sketchy “leak” is claiming that the wait could be extended to three more years.
Reddit user u/Conscious-Half-212 posted a “Sims 5 leak” on the platform claiming that the next game is “in very early development.” This could mean that EA has only recently started placing more resources and developers into making the next life sim. And, in this case, the post said: “The Sims 5” will not be released until 2023.
The same Reddit user, interestingly, suggested that even if “The Sims 5” is already out, EA will still release more content packs for the current title “The Sims 4.” This is quite a unique strategy since the game’s developer, Maxis, tend to focus on just one title per cycle since the format has been to release multiple content bundles per year.
Sims 5 leak from Sims5
On the other hand, fans in the comments section were quick to point out that the original poster did not provide any source despite it being a long and detailed post supposedly about “The Sims 5.” OP did not mention where or from whom they received these bits of information. So, for good measure, fans should read the post with a huge pinch of salt.
What EA has said so far about future ‘The Sims’ games
Considering the said leak could be inaccurate, the claim that “The Sims 5” is still in a very early stage of development might not be far from the actual situation. The fact that EA and Maxis have not said a word about the next game suggests that their focus is still on expanding “The Sims 4.”
However, in an earnings call earlier this year, EA CEO Andrew Wilson addressed a question about the future of the franchise. Without specifically naming “The Sims 5,” Wilson suggested that fans should not rule out the possibility of bringing back gameplay features similar to “The Sims Online.”
