EA and Maxis have just released quite a big collection of updates, hotfixes, and new features on “The Sims 4” earlier this month. However, some players already have set their eyes on the release date and gameplay upgrades possibly on “The Sims 5.”

‘The Sims 5’: When will it arrive?

Avid fans of the life simulation video game franchise have been expecting some big news about “The Sims 5” within 2019. This is understandable considering the history of release dates the series has had since it launched in 2000.

The first sequel, “The Sims 2,” came out in 2004 or roughly four years since the first title. After a couple of expansion packs, “The Sims 3” was released in 2009 while the latest main installment was launched in 2014 — both had around five years of intervals between its release dates. That leads to the speculation of many fans that “The Sims 5” might be unveiled in 2019.

The supposed announcement of “The Sims 5” is obviously a major deal for Maxis and EA. So if a new series installment is slated to launch this year, it should have been part of the EA Play events held alongside the E3 2019 last month. But that did not happen, and fans are left speculation about “The Sims 5’s” release date.

As mentioned, the developers recently announced a major update for “The Sims 4,” and they even called it their way of “rebranding” the game. With this amount of development and support still directed to “The Sims 4,” it begs the question of whether or not “The Sims 5” could be released anytime soon.

‘The Sims 5’ release date: Is 2020 a more possible timeframe?

It is important to note that EA and Maxis have yet to make any official announcements about “The Sims 5.” So fans should take everything they read about the sequel as mere speculations at this point.

However, if the clues are hinting at no new title coming out in 2019, everyone is free to hope that 2020 will offer more good news in this aspect. For now, fans can enjoy “The Sims 4” on Windows PC, macOS, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
