‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 8’s episode 8, titled “We Have History Together,” is set to feature Stefan and Damon working together to serve Cade and bring him souls. Executive producer Julie Plec warned that another major death will occur in the series when it returns in 2017.
The synopsis for episode 8 posted on TV Guide reads, “Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) attend an anger management support group looking for their next victim.
Meanwhile, Sybil (Nathalie Kelley) uses a group of high school students as leverage to get Caroline (Candice King) to locate a historical artifact that can be used against her; and Stefan and Damon continue their commitment to Cade (Wole Parks) and test the morals of a young doctor.”
The incoming episode will pick up after the events of episode 7, titled "The Next Time I Hurt Somebody, It Could Be You," where Stefan struck a deal with Cade to have his humanity turned off. Stefan felt that he needed this in order to deliver more souls to Cade and serve him for only a year instead of for eternity. By the end of the episode, Damon and Stefan drove out of Mystic Falls together with Stefan’s humanity switched off.
Basing on the synopsis, it seems that the Salvatore brothers will be working hand-in-hand as the devil’s servants. In addition to prowling an anger management group for a potential victim, they would also challenge a young doctor’s morals on their hunt for dark souls.
Alexandra Chando is set to play the young doctor named Tara in season 8’s mid-season premiere. Chando is best known for her work on the short-lived teen-drama thriller ‘The Lying Game,’ which aired on ABC Family from 2011 to 2013.
Meanwhile, executive producer Julie Plec hinted that another major death is coming in 2017 during an interview with TV Line. When asked whether Tyler Lockwood’s (Michael Trevino) shocking death was the last in the series, Plec replied, “Nope.” She declined to reveal more details beyond “painful” and “terrible.”
She also addressed Stefan’s switched off humanity saying, “Stefan’s never been good with temptation while in ripper mode… We know from past experience that Stefan has a threshold, and it’ll be Damon’s job to monitor his brother and make sure he stays on the good side of that threshold. If he crosses it, there’s a risk of losing him forever.”
‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 8’s episode 8, titled “We Have History Together,” is scheduled to air on The CW on January 13, 2017. It was directed by Ian Somerhalder and written by Matthew D'Ambrosio. It will be followed by episode 9, titled "The Simple Intimacy of the Near Touch," scheduled for January 20.
